Besides this being a project for school I chose this topic because it is everywhere and in a large part affects all people whether they choose to admit that or not.
When most people think about intolerance racism comes to mind. Although that is one of the topics that I will be touching my blog is not exclusive to it. Intolerance affects us all from that woman who is made fun of in the workplace because she is "old" and therefore not desirable anymore or the child who sits alone at a lunch table because he is "different" or in more serious instances various plots by different governments and their leaders to eradicate an entire race or religion.
Being raised in a family that is very diverse in culture, race and in some instances religion I was taught from young to accept people for who they are. The thought of treating someone differently because are not like me is unfathomable.
I am not without fault. There are times when I find myself fighting urges to not think about someone in a certain light but I normally try to fight that emotion and let rationality reign. My hope is that besides this being a research project for school and myself, it will serve as a tool to help others become more tolerant.
